Founded by best friends Alex and Joanna who are mad about socks! They are also mad about sustainability. Which is one of the reasons we were so keen to stock this brand. They try to be as eco-conscious as they can, both in business and in their day to day lives.
Since starting their business back in 2011, they have been committed to creating socks that leave minimum carbon footprint… (pun intended). They truly believe that sustainability is in our hands and our feet! The only impact they want to make on our planet is some great craic, and no damage!
Here’s just some of steps Irish Socksciety have taken to do their bit for the environment. Their packaging and marketing materials are all recyclable or made with recycled materials. Even the boxes they deliver their goodies in! The cotton used to make their socks is certified OEKO TEX which means no harmful chemicals are ever used. Plus, Irish Socksciety factory uses solar panels to produce energy that is used in the of knitting their socks.
Not to mention, Irish Socksceity were recently accepted as proud members of ‘Guaranteed Irish’. You will notice the Guaranteed Irish symbol on their packaging. This symbol helps spot products and businesses that are an ‘altogether better choice’. It’s awarded to businesses based in Ireland that support sustainable jobs, contribute to their local communities, and are committed to Irish provenance.
